Plant Engineering Names Wonderware InTouch 2012 a Product of the Year

Readers recognize HMI software for driving real-time business optimization

MARCH 19, 2013/ HOUSTON, TEXAS - Invensys Operations Management, a global provider of technology systems, software solutions and consulting services to the manufacturing and infrastructure operations industries, today announced that its Wonderware InTouch human machine interface (HMI) software has won the Silver Award in the Apps for Engineers category of Plant Engineering magazine’s annual Product of the Year contest.
Winners of the contest were selected by the magazine’s readers, comprising engineers from leading global manufacturing organizations who buy, specify and use these products daily. The magazine’s panel of industry experts nominated finalists from hundreds of entries, after which readers selected the winners in more than a dozen plant and manufacturing product categories.
“How to empower plant personnel to make better operating decisions in real time continues to challenge today’s manufacturers,” said Bob Vavra, editor and content manager, Plant Engineering. “That challenge can be met by taking advantage of existing software and platforms to better organize and enable the workforce and to improve asset performance. Our readers have identified the products they feel will help them achieve this level of real-time business optimization, and we’re happy to recognize Invensys with this year’s Product of the Year award on behalf of those readers.”
The Wonderware InTouch 2012 software is the primary real-time visualization application of Invensys’ enterprise control technology. An open and extensible solution, the software enables users to quickly and easily create standardized, reusable supervisory, HMI, SCADA and real-time decision support applications that can help maximize their return on engineering, shorten project times and significantly reduce maintenance costs. With its market-leading innovation, graphics, ease of use, engineering efficiency and support, the software goes beyond the capabilities of an ordinary HMI to help drive real-time business optimization.
“As the world’s best-selling HMI software, Wonderware InTouch 2012 has been improved to meet growing industry needs in areas such as enhanced security; installation and license management; operator and engineering productivity and efficiency; and support for the latest remote desktop services and virtualization technologies from Microsoft,” said Ravi Gopinath, president of the company’s Software business. “Like all of our software offerings, InTouch empowers and enables plant personnel to make better business decisions in real time, furthering the pursuit of business optimization. It dramatically reduces engineering costs, helps enforce standards and shortens deployments, as well as improves asset reliability and performance. That’s why InTouch is used in over one-third of the world’s industrial facilities.”
