Schneider Electric Software Expands Wonderware Connectivity with New Wonderware Operations Integration Offering
Foundation for Scalability, Throughput, Uptime, and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)
LAKE FOREST, Calif. – January 26, 2016 — Schneider Electric Software, a global leader in industrial software and part of Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management and automation, announces the release of Wonderware Operations Integration (OI) Servers. The new servers increase connectivity across the enterprise, from the data layer through the business and ERP layers, to support a cloud-ready communications strategy.
Wonderware OI Servers are a part of Schneider Electric Software’s IIoT connectivity strategy. The new inherent architecture of OI Servers allows seamless integration of a growing number of devices, ideal for use in Smart Cities, geographically distributed industries, as well as integration between currently disparate systems on a global scale.
“Customers have a wide spectrum of devices and systems that they want to integrate to their Supervisory HMI and historized data storage. Our broader connectivity offering through Wonderware Operations Integration provides greater value to customers by enabling a more connected enterprise,” said Alvaro Martinez, Product Manager, Schneider Electric Software. “The release not only expands Wonderware’s connectivity but also enriches our customers’ integration capability by making it faster, more flexible, easier to implement, and highly available.”
With the advent of Internet of Things and Industry 4.0, not only is the number of embedded devices used for Machine to Machine data exchange increasing, but demand for machine functionality is also rising, including demand for interoperability, the ability to exchange data with cloud-based systems, and user friendly local configuration and maintenance. Rather than an isolated set of units, these devices can become an integral part of the overall automation system, extending to the supply chain.
Building on Wonderware’s open plant philosophy, the OI release continues support for the major PLC brands such as Allen-Bradley, GE, Modbus, and Siemens, and expands support to Automation Direct, CoDeSys (Bosch, 3S, Eaton, WAGO), Beckhoff, BACnet, Mitsubishi, and Opto 22. This is the first step in a series of sequenced releases supporting new protocols and functionality.
Customers using the new OI Servers will benefit from:
- Increased throughput
- Increased scalability
- Elimination of single points of failure
- Maximized communication uptime
- Integrated support of multiple OI Server versions on a single node
- Co-existence with Wonderware DAServers and DI Objects on a single node
