Schneider Electric Software Implements SimSci Spiral Assay at Rosneft

The world’s largest publically traded petroleum company, Rosneft, deploys Spiral Assay enterprise crude knowledge management solution

LAKE FOREST, Calif. – July 12, 2016 – Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management and automation, today announced that Rosneft, the leader of Russia’s petroleum industry and the world’s largest publicly traded petroleum company, has successfully implemented SimSci Spiral Assay software at multiple sites across its enterprise.

SimSci Spiral Assay is the petroleum industry’s only software for enterprise crude knowledge management. With its powerful predictive modeling capabilities, Spiral Assay provides a software solution to create a central assay database and improve work processes, which can be shared across a broad spectrum of users, sharing up-to-date crude oil knowledge across the organization. As a result, it improves understanding of the quality of crudes being traded and processed and enhances responsiveness to changes in crude quality. Refiners and traders are able to more quickly optimize business plans, enabling faster, better commercial decisions.

“Spiral Assay enables users to leverage accurate crude quality predictions, in combination with processing experience and grade intelligence, to increase refinery margins, respond quickly to opportunities and reduce business risks,” said Harpreet Gulati, Ph.D., vice president, Schneider Electric Software. “The software ensures that anyone who uses crude oil data across the business has access to the most consistent and up-to-date information in diverse areas such as planning, scheduling, trading and operations. Its ability to drive collaboration and provide real-time crude data is critical to helping our customers in the petroleum industry achieve operational excellence.”

Spiral Assay enables sharing, managing and modeling of crude oil information across an enterprise. It enables companies to extract maximum value from their data, meaning laboratories can reduce measurement burdens while improving assay accuracy; refineries can optimize plans from real-time cargo data; and traders can make full use of third-party information, regardless of format or completeness. Furthermore, the software provides secure, web-based access to crude oil data and decision-support tools, focusing on the needs of a diverse community of users, including energy traders.

Spiral Assay forms part of Spiral Suite, the only unified enterprise supply chain software for the petroleum industry. For more information about Spiral Suite and Spiral Assay, please visit
